CAÑON CITY – Cañon City attorney Dan Slater announced today that he has opened his own law practice in Cañon City. Slater’s litigation practice follows several successful years as an associate at the McDermott Law Firm in Cañon City.
Slater’s new practice, located in the Sunflower Bank building in Cañon City, will continue to focus on the same areas of law he had previously handled at his old law firm. “I will continue to provide the high levels of representation in real estate, personal injury, small business law, and employment law, that folks in Southern Colorado have come to expect from me,” said Slater.
Slater, a native of Southern Colorado, came to Cañon City to practice law in 1998. Since then, Slater has become a leader in Southern Colorado’s legal and professional communities. He serves as the Chair of the Judicial Performance Commission for the Eleventh Judicial District, as well as serving as Fremont and Custer Counties’ representative to the Colorado Bar Association Board of Governors.
Most recently, Slater received word that he will be receiving one of the trial attorney community’s highest honors in May, when he will receive the award for “Young Lawyer of the Year” from the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. “It is a great honor to be recognized by my peers for such a prestigious award. As the first non-metro attorney in Colorado to receive this award, I will continue to fight for injured people in Southern Colorado with zeal and passion.”
